Google Business Profile

The listing that decides if you show up on the map.

When someone nearby searches for what you sell, the map result is often the first thing they see, and it is not on your website. It comes from your Google Business Profile. We set up and manage that profile, the listing that appears in Google Maps and the local map results: your business information, categories, photos and updates, kept accurate and current. Google Business Profile management is the difference between a listing that was filled in once and one that is right today.

The result nobody built

Most businesses did not build their map listing. Google made one, or a previous owner claimed it long ago, or someone filled it in on a quiet afternoon and never opened it again. It now shows hours from before the last change, a category that fits half of what you do, a few photos of the old premises, and a review that has waited months for a reply. Customers read it as the current state of your business, because to them it is. A website gets attention when it is rebuilt. The profile sits beside it, seen by people who are ready to call, and gets none. The fix is not one clean-up. It is someone answerable for what that listing says as the business changes.

What the Baseline records about your profile

Before we touch the listing, we write down where it stands, with a date on it. Whether the profile is claimed and verified, and who holds access. Whether the business name matches the one on your signage and your website. The primary category and any secondary ones. The service area, the hours and the phone number, and whether each matches your site. How many photos there are and how old they look. Which services and products are listed. Whether reviews have answers. That record is the Baseline for this service. It gives us the list of what to fix, and it gives you a plain account of what changed, because the same items get checked again after the work and both are shown to you side by side.

What Google Business Profile management covers

  • Claiming and verifying the profile, or recovering access to one that already exists.
  • The business name as it appears on your signage and your website, with the address, phone and hours to match.
  • Primary and secondary categories chosen for what you actually sell.
  • Service area set to where you work, for businesses that travel to the customer.
  • Photos, services and products, added and kept current as the business changes.
  • Posts and updates that say what is happening now, not what was true at setup.
  • Replies to reviews, written in your voice.

Who this is for

For a business that depends on being found nearby, in the map results, not only in the list of websites. If your customer searches, then calls or drives over, the profile is doing as much work as the site. It matters most where the listing has been left alone for a while, nobody is sure what it says, and nobody is sure who holds the login.

Questions before you book

Will this get us into the map results?

We cannot promise that, and nobody honestly can. Google decides what appears in the map results, and it says only in broad terms how it chooses. What we can do is make the listing complete, accurate and consistent with your website, which is the part anyone can control, and record its state before and after so you can see exactly what changed.

We already have a profile. Do we start over?

No. An existing profile carries its reviews and its history, and a new one would start with neither. We work in the one you have, record what it says, and fix it from there. If access has been lost, the first job is getting it back, which goes through Google’s own process and depends on what they ask for.

What does it cost?

Pricing is on request, quoted against your Baseline. Once we have written down the state of the profile, we know how much there is to set right and how much there is to keep current, and the quote follows from that. A listing that needs recovering, renaming and rebuilding is a different job from one that is nearly right.
